What is the University of Alabama Crafters License?
The University of Alabama Crafters License was created for small crafters or low volume producers with the intent of making licensing agreements affordable.
If you are part of the University of Alabama Crafter License Program you have permission to use the university trademarks and logos on products. Anyone using the University of Alabama trademarks and logos on products must first have permission from the University of Alabama.
Who is eligible to participate in the University of Alabama Crafters License?
To qualify for the University of Alabama Crafters License you must manufacture items yourself by hand.
You must not commercially manufacture the items. Below is a list of items that are not approved, include, but are not limited to:
Apparel and Headwear (clothing and hats)
Cornhole boards/other tailgate games
Tumblers/other similar styles of drinkware
Consumable items/items used on or in body
Potentially other items on a case by case basis
If I’m interested in being part of the University of Alabama Crafters License, how do I apply?
if you are interested in being part of the University of Alabama Crafters License, you will need to contact the University of Alabama Trademark Licensing Program and fill out an application.
Included in the application process are photos of the products you intend to sell.
Additional details about the University of Alabama Crafters License:
Members of the Crafters License are permitted to sell up to 500 units or $2,500 in annual revenue.
Crafters are limited to selling their products via temporary locations such as craft fairs and websites like Etsy and Facebook.
Crafters cannot sell their items to permanent retail locations.
Crafter will receive the following, an officially licensed certificate to display when selling, a sales reporting form, and stickers with hologram technology that are to be attached to each item.
