University of Oklahoma Trademark Licensing

The University of Oklahoma Office of Trademarks and Licensing controls commercial use of OU names, logos, and other marks. Any product bearing OU marks must be approved by OU Licensing and made by an approved licensee.

The office’s purpose is to promote the university through licensed products, preserve historically important marks, protect OU’s image by limiting commercial use to authorized companies, and generate royalty income that supports university programs. Trademarked phrases include The University of Oklahoma®, There’s Only One Oklahoma®, and Boomer Sooner®.

Anyone who wants to make or sell items with OU marks needs a license.
