UT Trademark Licensing

The University of Texas Office of Brand, Trademarks and Licensing protects and promotes the names and logos of The University of Texas System and its component institutions. Marks are registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the state of Texas, and in many foreign countries. They are the exclusive property of the Board of Regents.

Its purpose is to make sure the public can identify officially licensed products and to control who may put UT System and campus marks on merchandise. A license is required through the office and CLC. Royalty income from more than 400 licensees supports the mission of the UT System and its institutions.

Anyone who wants to make or sell items with UT System or campus marks needs a license.
