How Much Does Each School Make From UNDEFEATED College Vault Merch?

UNDEFEATED’s first collegiate collection is not another $28 bookstore tee. The hoodies list at $130. The question licensing people actually ask is simpler: when that hoodie sells, how much does Alabama, Texas, or Penn State receive?

This article estimates royalty to each participating school per unit, using estimated College Vault royalty rate percentages.

Estimate method: Each school is modeled at a 20% College Vault royalty, higher than a standard apparel rate because the graphics are retired Vault marks. Wholesale is modeled at half of the UNDEFEATED retail price. Royalty is charged on wholesale, not retail.

The collection

UNDEFEATED partnered with CLC’s College Vault program for 13 football schools: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, LSU, Oklahoma, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M. A basketball collection is planned for December.

What a $13 hoodie royalty means

A standard campus tee often retails near $28. At a common 12% retail-style comparison, the school’s take is a few dollars. The UNDEFEATED hoodie is a different ticket: $130 on the tag, Vault art, streetwear channel. Even with royalty on wholesale, $13 per hoodie is a premium event compared with most licensed fleece.

  • Auburn University
  • University of Florida
  • Georgia Tech
  • University of Illinois
  • Indiana University
  • LSU
  • University of Oklahoma
  • Penn State

Why this is an estimate

CLC and the schools do not publish Vault contract rates or UNDEFEATED wholesale invoices. The 20% Vault rate and 50% wholesale assumption are editorial estimates for comparison. Actual deals can use a different base (wholesale vs. retail), a different Vault premium, or a marketing fund on top of royalty.
